In order to RENEW your BUSINESS LICENSE ONLINE, you will need:
1. Your BUSINESS LICENSE ACCOUNT NUMBER (appears on your actual
Business License and on any renewal letter sent to you) OR your BUSINESS ID
NUMBER (which is either your Federal EIN or your complete social security
number);
2. Your BUSINESS NAME (exactly as it appears on your Business License
– it could be your full name or the name your business is trading as);
3. The amount of Frederick County Gross Receipts (or Gross Purchases
if a wholesaler) for the prior year [NOTE: Frederick County contractors who
worked in other jurisdictions should first use the “Gross Receipts Calculations
Form” on our website to pre-determine Frederick County gross receipts]; and
4. An estimate of your Gross Receipts (or Gross Purchases if a
wholesaler) if you have been in business for less than one full year.
NOTE: If you have less than $4,000 in gross receipts (resulting in $0.00 fee assessment), you must still file for a business license renewal to remain active and in compliance; however, you will not receive a physical business license as you are placed in an exempt status.
But if you have less than $4,000 in gross receipts (and you are not on an estimate -- have been in business for at least one full prior year), and you wish to obtain a physical business license, please call the Business Division Staff at 540-722-8328 or 8329 after filing your BL renewal so that we can manually enter the required assessment payment of $30 for you to obtain the physical business license.
